As a calligrapher trained in classical scripts through IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting), I've learned that the foundation of beautiful lettering starts long before the pen touches paper. For this "Fresh off the Market" bridal shower, I knew the standard ink colors wouldn't capture the playful yet elegant tone the bride-to-be deserved. This called for something custom—a shade that would embody both the excitement of being "fresh off the market" and the timeless elegance of traditional penmanship.
Finding the Perfect Shade
The process began with understanding the event's theme. "Fresh off the Market" celebrates that beautiful moment when someone transitions from single to spoken for—it's playful, it's joyful, and it deserves a color that reflects that energy.
I mixed a custom coral-pink ink that would photograph beautifully, complement the party's aesthetic, and most importantly, flow seamlessly from my pointed pen. The shade needed to be vibrant enough to feel celebratory but sophisticated enough for the formal Copperplate script I planned to use.
